Collection: DIY Watch Club Experimental Unit

DIY WATCH CLUB Experimental Unit

Welcome to the Experimental Unit — a place for our community to explore what's next at DIY Watch Club.

These projects are still in their experimental stage, which means you can get early access at a special price before the official launch. This offer is exclusive to members who have purchased a DIY Watch Club kit before. In return, we ask for your honest feedback after completing your build. Your thoughts help us improve our kits, tools, and tutorial videos so we can create even better experiences for everyone in the DWC family.

Every kit in the Experimental Unit is fully functional and carefully prepared — we're refining and improving the finer details with your valuable feedback.

Our First DIY Kit for the Experimental Unit

DIY watch club Chronograph Watchmaking Kit

We're kicking off this new series with the DIY Chronograph Watchmaking Kit, featuring the Seiko VK64 mecaquartz hybrid movement — our first non‑mechanical design and one of the most requested projects from our community.

This is an advanced‑level kit (for now), created for members who've already built at least one DWC watch. If you're new to watchmaking, we recommend starting with one of our starter kits. But if you're ready for a new challenge, this Chronograph kit is the perfect next step in refining your skills.

Be part of our Experimental Unit and help shape the final product!
If you've purchased a DWC kit before, you'll receive an exclusive 40% OFF coupon by email within 2–3 working days — bringing the price down to just US$228 after discount. Tap the button below to join and be among the first to build the Chronograph Watchmaking Kit before its official launch.

All experimental kits are currently sold out.

Thank you for the incredible support! If you missed this round, you can still register here — we’ll email you as soon as the kit is officially launched. Stay tuned!

Why did this take so long? We had to invent new tools for everyone to make this VK Chronograph kit possible.

Assembling a VK chronograph is something that even experienced watch‑assembling experts would find challenging on the first couple of tries. But we aim to make this kit accessible to even 1st‑time watchmakers. That’s why we invented the hand‑setting, alignment, and stem‑removal tools for this kit. There were many back‑and‑forth sessions with TMI engineers, and we even sent our setups to be tested by TMI. Many prototype versions, even some mass‑produced parts that failed our final testing, were discarded. After 3 years of hard work, this is finally ready.

Warning: At its current state (Experimental Unit), this is likely not very friendly to 1st‑time watchmakers. That’s why the DIY Watch Club Experimental Unit discount is only available to those who have built DIY Watch Club watches before.
